I painted this picture with that in mind: Here, Laura emerges from melancholy shadow and looks toward the cheerful yellow of better times. Van Gogh used yellow as a symbol of life, and I have followed his example.This picture is based on one of Laura’s own photos (see them at http://laurabfer.tumblr.com) but I have employed an exaggerated palette in order to tell my story. Laura has had some hard times recently. She had to withdraw from posting for a while, but she is gradually returning to life online. I painted this picture with that in mind: Here, Laura emerges from melancholy shadow and looks toward the cheerful yellow of better times.
